Health and Sanitation

GHMC strives hard to give its citizens a clean and green city. It has won the national “Clean City Award” for three consecutive years. A clean city involves services in different areas like sanitation, greenery and public health. The Health & Sanitation Department of the Corporation is entrusted with the responsibility of making Hyderabad a clean city and is headed by Additional Commissioner, Health & Sanitation [AC (H&S)], duly assisted by the Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH), Chief Entomologist, Chief Veterinary Officer and Assistant Medical Officer of Health (Head Office) [AMOH (HO)] at the Head Office level. At the circle level are the Assistant Medical Officers of Health, and the Medical Officer of Health (MOH) in Secunderabad Division. The Zonal Commissioners (ZAC) of the East, West, South, North, and Central zones are the authorities who coordinate the daily sanitation operations.
The Health & Sanitation Department is engaged in solid waste management and public health to keep the city neat and clean. Veterinary services, anti-malaria operations, issue of birth and death certificates, issue of trade licences and emergency operations are the other activities entrusted to this Department.
