Located
at Gandipet, Ocean Park is one of the first theme parks
started in twin-cities and continues to be a great hit
especially with children. But it is not the young ones
alone who enjoy, even adults can have lots of fun here.
The park has a water sports section and another one for
amusement games. Here you can relive your childhood or
romp around with your children amid the various water
bodies. If you enjoy the thrills of the games where the
ships and trains make half and full circles, where tea
cups juggle in the air and you are literally taken on
a ride, then Ocean park is the place for you.In the kids
section there is a wading pool and fountain, while the
adults section has the exhilarating water slides. The
most exciting in the water sports though is the 100 ft
slide where you splash through water. Then there is waves
and swimming pool where adults and older children can
prance together. Jet skiing is also available. The swimming
pool has men’s and women’s section too. If you can pull
your children out of the water there is the amusement
park adjacent to the water sports section. Toy train,
helicopters, huge air filled balloon, video games are
available for children. For the adults there is tora tora
ride, single loop roller coaster and a ship that sails
from side to side churning your insides out. The entrance
ticket of Rs 200 includes free rides in all the games.
However no food can be bought from outside. There are
a couple of snack bars and a restaurant inside. Men and
women can enter the water sports section in shorts or
buy one inside the park. If you do not mind, swimsuits
are available on hire for men, women and children. A unique
amusement park for the entire family. What sets it apart
are the water based fun rides and water sports in which
folks of all ages can cool off in the thrilling and pleasurable
pools, water slides and other innovative water rides.
Enjoy exhilarating water sports in a one-of-a-kind amusement

Located
some 20 kms from the city, Osman Sagar is one of the outing
spots most preferred by couples. Away from the city, it
provides a serene and charming atmosphere to visitors.
The drive to the place from Mehdipatnam through the cantonment
areas is enchanting. Gandipet is the dam on Osman Sagar
lake. It has now been converted to a 29 sq km reservoir
formed by constructing a dam on river Musi
that pumps in water to the twin cities. The major attractions
of the place are the lake, the parks, and a road that
gives a proper view of the lake from above. You can satiate
your hunger with fast foods and quench your thirst with
cool drinks available at a couple of eat-outs around.
The big disappointment is that you wont be allowed
to take a swim in the lake or go anywhere near the waters
for that matter. This step has been taken as a precautionary
measure after a few incidents of drowning were reported.
On the way to Gandipet, you can visit two theme amusement
parks for kids Elles World and Ocean Park. While
Elles World, the first park of its kind, offers several
fun rides for kids, Ocean Park has attractions like a
kiddies pool, a 60-ft high ride, the Slam Bomb, bumping
cars and dry rides for people of all ages. Entry into
the park, at Rs. 100 per person, is expensive, though.

The
places youve heard about till now only in the fairy
tales come alive here in a mixture of dazzling colors.
Ramoji Film City, owned by entrepreneur-cum-film producer
Ramoji Rao, is magnificently built across 2,000 acres
of land. Right at the entrance you will find two three-star
hotels called Tara and Sitara, where you will be given
a royal treatment as a visitor. The splendid looking place
is famous for its sets and can make your day with the
resplendent things on offer. Hawa Mahal, along the lines
of the Golconda Fort, is on a hilltop from where you can
have a birds eye view of the whole place. RFC has
carved a niche for itself with its Japanese garden, the
ETV planet (a multi-purpose editing suit), a multi-purpose
building, a pool and artificial waterfalls. Sets like
the airport and the hospital astonish. These are the added
feathers in the Film Citys beautiful cap. If you've
bought the ticket worth Rs 350, you can have a feast at
Hotel Sitara. The others can check out a few canteens
both regular and mobile. At the Prince Street you
can shop for nice handicrafts, pottery and other decorative
articles. The place is popular among various film circles
in the world not only for its visual feast but also for
its multimedia and editing suit techniques. With some
luck you are likely to find your favorite star shooting
in one of the sets for some film. |

Once
popular as a lovers park (a place frequented mostly
by couples), it has gradually grown into a major tourist
spot and outing. Now, huge families from all over the
twin cities (and from outside too) come over to the place
for a picnic. Located at the end of the Necklace Road,
the park has a rose garden, a rock garden and a floral
clock that can be a major source of inspiration for the
tourists. |
